Where 12,000 visitors were recorded at Konstruksi Indonesia and The Big 5 Construct Indonesia last year, 55% claimed to have attended for the complimentary educational features on offer. As a result, the third edition of the event will invite visitors to 34 CPD (continued professional development) certified workshops, up from last year’s 23 sessions.
Previously popular topics will remain on the agenda; themes such as Project Management, Public-Private Partnership (PPP), and Sustainable Technology are returning this year in even more detail than before. Based on visitor feedback, extra slots this year will be filled with all new topics surrounding building materials like bamboo and concrete, and soil structure interaction.

Having set a standard for gradual expansion, last year had already “proved to be a more engaging and richer experience than the first one in almost every way” according to Bernanto S., Director VAS, NAI Indonesia, who describes Konstruksi Indonesia and The Big 5 Construct Indonesia as “the definitive construction and infrastructure event in Indonesia.”
“Indonesia has the biggest market, the biggest population against its economy, the strongest growth, and open distance to develop. There is so much to be done here” says speaker at this year’s edition, Indonesia Country Manager for Jones Lang Lasalle (JLL) Todd Lauchan.
Hosted by the Ministry of Public Works and Housing, Konstruksi Indonesia and The Big 5 Construct Indonesia will run from the 8 – 10 November 2017 at the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC). The insightful range of talks will grant visitors access to the local market, in addition to the products and innovations that will be showcased by 300+ exhibiting brands.
“Construction and infrastructure projects are currently the main locomotive of the Indonesian economy. So it’s time for all academic community, government, and private sectors to attend the program and learn from the experts,” says Ari Firmandi, Senior Vice President at the Appraisal Division for Indonesia Infrastructure Guarantee Fund. Exploring the evolution of PPP in Indonesia, Ari is just one of the four speakers covering finance topics at the event.
Willy Winarko, Community Manager at QLUE City Improvement, will unveil what makes a smart city smart at one of the workshop sessions, exploring case studies and best practices in Indonesia. According to Winarko, “It is important to focus on the fundamentals, on integration, data management, access to customers and citizens, and whether or not the public is ready.”

Coming closer to the 2020 deadline where the Indonesian government aims to reduce emissions of greenhouse gases by 29%, Architect M. Abdullah Quadri will come from TYPSA in Saudi Arabia to look at both smart law enforcement, and how green technology can impact the construction industry for the better.
In addition to workshops and products on display, visitors at Konstruksi Indonesia and The Big 5 Construct Indonesia 2017 will have access to over 10,000 industry-wide professional and government contacts via the business matchmaking programme.
“It is key that we continue to take stock of what visitors to our events have to say about their experience – for us to realize what has been useful, build upon it and deliver improvement year by year.” says Event Director Muhammed Kazi. “Like the evolving construction market in Indonesia, to advance means to be flexible and innovative.” he adds.
Konstruksi Indonesia and The Big 5 Construct Indonesia will be co-located with Indonesia Infrastructure Week, a focused business-to-business exhibition for public and private stakeholders and investors. The Official Travel Partner for the event is Emirates, with Booking.com as Official Accommodation Partner, and Uber as Official Transport Partner.
