MARBLE IN TURKEY
Turkey has almost 33% of the total marble reserves (41.7 billion tonnes) of the world with 13.9 billion tonnes. However, approximately 0.08% of these reserves are utilized annually with 11.5 million tonnes processed. Turkey has over 80 different type and over 120 different color and pattern of marble reserves.
The most well-known marble types of Turkey in the international market are as follows: Süpren, Elazig Cherry, Aksehir Black, Manyas White, Bilecik Beige, Tiger Skin, Denizli Travertine, Aegean Claret, Milas Lilac, Gemlik Diabase and Afyon Sugar.
Today natural stone sector has become leading sector in terms of mining exports. Marble processing capacities are continuously growing and the number of marble plants functioning with modern technologies are increasing. In the marble sector there are 2.560 marble quarries, 1.500 small and medium-sized factories, and 7.500 workshops.
The annual production of natural stones in Turkey was around 6.9 million m3 in 2015. The Natural Stone Exports of Turkey reached a quantity of 6,518,308 (in KG), with a total value 1,805,871,758 (in $) in 2016.
Turkish natural stone exports are made to China (34.2%), Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (5.4%), Iraq (3.9%), India (3%), U.A.E (2.4%), France (2.1%), Israel (2%), Canada (2.2%), Australia (1.5%) as a highest list to a total of 71.3% in overall export of the industry.
, Asia and North Africa, expected to make a significant contribution to Turkey’s marble trade’. Project Marble Eurasia respectively Project Marble Eurasia & Istanbul Block Fair is the complete name of the new stone fair in Istanbul.
A buyer program is to invite ‘400 buyers with strong executive decision making capabilities from 20 countries’. Delegations from 21 countries are expected to visit the fair.
Seminars about marble and marble projects will be held.
BLOCK MARBLE SEGMENT
BLOCK MARBLE SEGMENT is an international platform where thousands kinds of block marbles and natural stones from hundreds of manufacturers in the international marble sector are displayed. BLOCK MARBLE SEGMENT, organized as a complementary division of the PROJECT MARBLE EURASIA, aims at bringing together the leaders from national and international block marble sector, providing unique opportunities to follow the latest trends, developments and innovations on block marble to open up new markets and to see new products and technological developments.
As the most exported natural stone product of Turkey, block marble or unprocessed/ raw marble is expected to be most attention drawing product to be exhibited at the fairground.
6 MARBLE SHOWS IN TURKEY
Project Marble Eurasia will be held in Istanbul August 23 – 26, 2017 and will be the 6th such sectoral show.
With this new fair, Turkey will have 6 such sectorial events: Marble Izmir (March 22 – 25, 2017), Stone
Tech Machinery, Afyonkarahisar (September 01 – 04, 2017), Marble Show Antalya (October 18 – 21, 2017), Bursa Marble Block Fair (October 25 – 28, 2017) and Istanbul Mermer (November 09 – 12, 2017).
ORGANIZERS
The exhibition is co-organized by Pyramids Group and Expotim Group.
Expotim International Fair Org. is established in April 2003 with a group of people experienced at fair organization sector. Expotim is authorized by the Turkish Ministry of Economy with B-Class license to organize exhibitions abroad.
Pyramids International, a trade fair organizer for the Middle East and North Africa was established in Cairo, since 1993. In 2003, Pyramids International has launched Istanbul office, Turkey as Pyramids Group Fair, operating in more than 50 different countries and 70 sales partners.

The exhibition is going to be organized jointly by Pyramids Group and Expotim Group between 23rd – 26th August 2017 at Istanbul Expo Center, Istanbul, Turkey.

Istanbul Mineral Exporters’ Association (IMIB) is a professional non-profit association which deals with all export activities in minerals sector. Istanbul Mineral Exporters’ Association was founded in 1976 and has 2,425 members as of 2015.
