IADA – THE INDEX ARCHITECTURE AND DESIGN AWARDS
INSPIRING PRODUCTS & PROJECTS CELEBRATED AT IADA
The INDEX Architecture & Design Awards (IADA) celebrate exceptional creativity, innovation and passion in design over the preceding year.
INDEX has been supporting and facilitating the evolution of Dubai’s design industry into an internationally respected force since 1991. Taking place on its second evening in a glitzy, informal setting in the Dubai World Trade Centre, the awards ceremony features as the central social and networking function of the entire event.
The IADA ceremony showcased leading architecture and design projects, products and professionals across 15 distinct categories, culminating in the INDEX Lifetime Achievement Award.
THE FUTURE OF DESIGN: WITNESS THE LATEST GLOBAL DESIGN INNOVATIONS AT INDEX
From the world’s first design-focused solar panels set to bring style to sustainable building, 3D light paneling and the latest in smart home technologies – INDEX Dubai is offering the ultimate look in to the future of design.
CONNECTING HOME: THE LATEST IN SMART HOME TECH
Discover systems that can provide reliable control of your home through mobile anytime and anywhere, with efficiency even better than you actually being there. You can control lights, dim them to certain levels, control the percentage of opening curtains and even program them to open at specific times. Sensors can check the quality of air at home and for any gases, and can also order windows to open for fresh air when needed.
INDEX IS THE SHOW OF INNOVATION
“There are endless possibilities that you can have in controlling your home,” said Muhannad Ayoub, Founder and CEO of ALAYOUBI Technologies – the leading distributors of Moorgen (Germany) and Flex (Brazil) smart home products in the Middle East region, which can offer all of the aforementioned features and more.
Speaking at their stand at INDEX (SS3A79) Ayoub said: “What I can add here is that having a smart home means that it is going to interact with you according to your needs without you doing things manually, or even if you forget to do it. It helps you doing things at home, it protects your safety and security, it alerts you in case of any abnormal things going on. Your home becomes your friend.”
WORLD-FIRST STYLISH SOLAR PANEL DESIGNS
Located within Ventura Dubai at INDEX, SOLARIX (VD5) – an innovative design team of architects, product designers, technical and sustainability experts based in the Netherlands – is for the first time offering stylish, contemporary and custom-made Solar Design solutions that can also integrate LED lighting. The company’s innovative and sustainable façade panels generate solar energy – a very current topic given Government regulations aiming to achieve a smart, sustainable city status for Dubai by 2021 – and also, for the first time, have a focus on design.
Due to different materials, shadow effects and light reflections, buildings with SOLARIX panel facades will never look the same, with changes in its angles and at different times of the day. In the evening time, the building can transform in to a LED light artwork. Speaking at INDEX, the SOLARIX team said: “The built environment still has so many potential energy sources with its roofs and facades. With SOLARIX, art, energy and technology are brought together in a beautiful and sustainable solution that provides a unique design for every façade.”
LOST IN THE INNOVATIVE INTERIORS MAZE
From 3D light paneling to sculptural effects in surface finishes to custom-designed digital wall coverings – the ‘Innovative Interiors Maze’ at SURFACE Design Middle East, co-located with INDEX (DWTC Hall 5), is set to change the way you look at floors, ceilings and walls.
The new feature will take you on a tour of some of the world’s leading names in surface innovation including the Mohawk Group from the US, known for its ‘reveal imaging’ advanced printing technology which transforms regular tile into the most natural, realistic look of stone or hardwood.
