THE COVERINGS INSTALLATION AND DESIGN (CID) AWARDS
The Coverings Installation and Design (CID) Awards celebrate outstanding achievements in the design and installation of tile and stone in both residential and commercial projects. Tile and stone offer designers, architects, installers, and contractors infinite and enduring design styles for their projects. Projects will be judged and awarded based on technical installation and design. Projects will be judged on their levels of creativity, craftsmanship, and outstanding use of materials and achievement in the use of tile or stone within the residential and commercial project categories. Of particular interest are projects that demonstrate an original or unusual use of materials, incorporate an innovative technology, reflect installation excellence or successfully combine aesthetics with function in a unique and interesting way. Two grand-prize winners will be chosen from all submissions
2016 CID Award Winners
Fifteen outstanding tile and stone projects were recognized as part of the annual Coverings Installation & Design (CID) Awards, a program that honors outstanding design and installation of tile and stone in residential, commercial, sustainable and international projects. An esteemed panel of notable editors and leading designers evaluated almost 125 submissions based on execution, original usage, and overall design and purpose, and gave special recognition to those projects exemplifying spectacular tile and stone applications.
THE CERAMIC TILE EDUCATION FOUNDATION (CTEF)
Coverings has a long history of supporting the tile industry and encouraging continuing education, tile installation certification, and training. In fact, through its support of the Ceramic Tile Education Foundation (CTEF), Coverings actively encourages the highest standards in tile installation, certification, and education.
The Ceramic Tile Education Foundation (CTEF) provides education and installer certification for professionals working in the ceramic tile and stone industry. The CTEF Certified Tile Installer (CTI) program is the only third-party assessment of installer skill and knowledge which is recognized by the tile industry. It also offers Advanced Certifications for Tile Installers (ACT) testing.
To offer consumers greater confidence that their tile installers follow tile installation procedures that exceed ANSI standards and TCNA Handbook guidelines for floor and wall, six leading tile industry organizations came together to create the Advanced Certifications for Tile Installers (ACT) program.
LIVE INSTALLATION DEMONSTRATION STAGE
One of the most popular features at Coverings, these live “how-to” classes offer attendees an up-close look at how top contracting pros handle a variety of challenging tile installations. Attendees will see exactly how to install a wide variety of new products and learn techniques to make tile and stone installation more successful.
THE STONE FABRICATORS ALLIANCE (SFA) AND THE STONE ZONE
The Stone Fabricators Alliance (SFA) is an organization dedicated to the education of the fabricator. The SFA will present ongoing demonstrations and educational “how-to” topics in their booth that are specifically designed for fabricators and installers. They will also be featuring products that were “born on the SFA” (products designed by fabricators for fabricators).
ART TILE VILLAGE
The Art Tile Village is a popular destination at Coverings year after year. It is located in the Tile Council of North America Pavilion. At this space attendees can see tiles from an extensive collection of art studios and the largest assembly of decorative tile artisans under one roof.
